Ark isn't the ghost town on the postcards, which is exactly why it's worth knowing about. The 2007 Arkansas Razorbacks football team represented the University of Arkansas as a member of the Western Southeastern Conference (SEC) during the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season.

Ark is the lone documented ghost town in Dent County — for now.

The story of Ark

Missouri's ghost towns run from lead diggings to river ports the railroad left behind.

The 2007 Arkansas Razorbacks football team represented the University of Arkansas as a member of the Western Southeastern Conference (SEC) during the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Led by Houston Nutt in his tenth and final year as head coach during the regular season and Reggie Herring as interim head coach for the team's bowl game, the Razorbacks compiled an overall record of 8–5 with a mark of 4–4 in conference play, placing in a three-way tie for third in the SEC's Western Division. Arkansas was invited to the Cotton Bowl Classic, where the Razorbacks lost to Missouri.

What you'll find today

The on-the-ground condition of Ark is unverified — it's listed here with unknown status. That could mean standing buildings, or an empty field. Go prepared for either, and consider sharing what you find so the record improves.

Nobody has confirmed the access situation, so treat any visit as reconnaissance: verify land ownership first, and be ready to admire from the road.

Getting there

Here's the honest truth: access to Ark is unverified. We couldn't confirm whether the site sits on public land, private property, or something in between — so verify land ownership and local rules before visiting, and respect private property at all times.

Good to know

Ghost-town etiquette is simple: take only photographs. Removing artifacts is illegal on public lands and disrespectful everywhere else — and on federal land it can be a serious offense.
