Some ghost towns feel like museums. Stewart feels like an interruption — a place that stopped mid-sentence. Elizabeth Dee Shaw Stewart Stadium is an outdoor multi-purpose stadium in the Western United States, located on the campus of Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.
Carbon County County holds 16 documented ghost towns, including Coal City, Consumers, Hale — Stewart keeps them company on the map.
The story of Stewart
Utah's ghost towns split between failed Mormon farm villages and the rough mining camps the faithful mostly watched from a distance.
Elizabeth Dee Shaw Stewart Stadium is an outdoor multi-purpose stadium in the Western United States, located on the campus of Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. Originally Wildcat Stadium, it was renamed in 1998 for Stewart (1905–1996), a notable campus and community benefactor. Used primarily for football, the 17,312-seat venue is the home of the Weber State Wildcats of the Big Sky Conference. It was expanded in 1966 with the construction of the primary grandstand along the northwest sideline, nearly doubling its capacity.
What you'll find today
The on-the-ground condition of Stewart is unverified — it's listed here with unknown status. That could mean standing buildings, or an empty field. Go prepared for either, and consider sharing what you find so the record improves.
Nobody has confirmed the access situation, so treat any visit as reconnaissance: verify land ownership first, and be ready to admire from the road.
Getting there
Here's the honest truth: access to Stewart is unverified. We couldn't confirm whether the site sits on public land, private property, or something in between — so verify land ownership and local rules before visiting, and respect private property at all times.
Good to know
Ghost-town etiquette is simple: take only photographs. Removing artifacts is illegal on public lands and disrespectful everywhere else — and on federal land it can be a serious offense.
